Frequently Asked Questions before surgery
Can my pet eat the morning of surgery?
No food after midnight the night before surgery but a small amount of water is fine. There is one exception, if you have a kitten weighing 3-4 lbs. they can have 1/4 of their regular meal before 6:00 a.m. on the morning of surgery.
What time will I drop off my pet for surgery?
Please arrive between 7:30 AM and 7:45 AM for cats and 8:20 AM -8:30 AM for dogs.
How old does my pet need to be for surgery?
Cats must weigh a minimum of 3 lbs. and dogs need to be 4-months-old. However, you should consult with your primary veterinarian to see if your pet is ready for surgery. Spay Arkansas does not do surgery on pets older than 7 years old.
Do untouchble/feral cats receive an ear tip?
Yes, no exceptions.
Do you still offer curbside drop off?
Please be ready to help our staff retrieve your pet from your vehicle if needed, but there is no need to park. Simply pull up to the front door, and we will assist you. You are welcome to come inside, but please speak with a staff member first upon arrival. Morning drop-offs can get very busy, so we have a system in place to keep everything running smoothly.
Do I get my deposit back if I do not show for my appointment?
The deposit for online appts. will be applied to services received at your appointment, but it is non-refundable if you do not attend.
Does my cat need a carrier?
Each friendly cat must be in a clean, secure carrier labeled with both your name and your cat’s name. If you haven’t used the carrier in a while, please take a moment to inspect it and ensure it is free of insects. All feral/untouchable cats must be in a trap.
