Natali Alfonso is a graduate of Bentonville High School, was born and raised in Cuba and came to the USA six years ago. Recently, at the age of 21, she became a United States Citizen. Natali has always loved animals and her passion is working in the animal field where she can help pets every day. Natali is a certified veterinarian assistant (CVA) after completing the Petra Allied Health Veterinary Training Program. With Spanish as her native language, Natali is instrumental in assisting our Latino clients with all their needs. She manages client accounts, schedules appointments and keeps the front office running smoothly. Natali is excited to live in the United States because of all the opportunities for a better life and loves the beauty here in the Natural State.
Katy Thayer is lead veterinary technician at Spay Arkansas. A 2004 graduate of Fayetteville High School, she is also a 2009 graduate of the University of Arkansas where she earned a degree in Poultry Science. Following her love of animals, Katy has worked in the veterinary field for over 11 years. Katy and her husband Bryan have a daughter Madelyn and share their home with a dog named Roo and two cats named Mushroom and Bunny. When Katy is not at work she also enjoys crocheting, playing video games and spending time with her family.
Melissa Stewart grew up on a farm in Madison County. She has been a certified nursing assistant for 15 years. Always having a love for animals, she decided to try the veterinary world. She loves being a vet tech! She has three children and many animals including dogs, cats and rabbits. For fun she enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, four wheeling and canoeing with family and friends. Melissa feels blessed to experience the natural beauty God created in Northwest Arkansas.
Janet Starling began her career as a vet tech in 1998. She has been employed for 9 years at an animal emergency clinic, in addition to working 1 1/2 years for an orthopedic DVM. Janet is our on-call emergency vet tech for the clinic. She has been working with animals since she was 15 years old. She started out as a trail guide at a pack station with horses and also did dog bathing while she was a teenager. Janet has always owned Pit Bulls and currently has 3 Pit Bulls, 2 cats, 2 snakes and a colt. She has owned all kinds of animals from rats to iguanas to ferrets and birds. Janet has two daughters in their early-mid 20’s and one grandson.

A country girl at heart, Romaine Kobilsek was raised in Pennsylvania on a dairy farm that is still run by family members. A graduate of the University of Dayton, she worked in corporate America as a purchasing agent and logistics manager and is certified in production and inventory management. Romaine began her association with the organization in December 2010 and was one of the team members that worked to open the clinic in Springdale. A board member since December 2012, Romaine served as business manager for 2 1/2 years. In 2015 she will continue her board responsibilities of bringing the very best practices and community awareness to the clinic to ensure the legacy of Spay Arkansas in our area. She and her husband share their time between Joplin, Missouri and Lake Lomond in Bella Vista. They have two adult daughters and twin granddaughters. Three rescued King Charles Cavaliers and one cat allow the couple to reside with them. Romaine enjoys fostering and helping to place animals and usually has one or two in residence at any particular time.
Deonne Underhill is the Business Manager of Phenom-A-Dog Daycare, Boarding, & Training in Rogers, AR. She is also President of the Board of Directors of Fighting For Fido, a NWA non-profit rescue and animal advocacy organization which started in 2016. She became involved with Spay Arkansas out of concern for animals at risk of euthanasia in local shelters and was one of the board of directors between 2015 – 2017. She and her husband, Todd, and daughter, Morgan, live in Pea Ridge and are members of Cross Church-Pinnacle Hills. They have six dogs: a Labrador Retriever, 2 English Bulldogs, an English Setter, a Bichon Frise, and a Shih-Tzu. Deonne’s interests include spending time with her family, helping to find happy forever homes for displaced pets, and enjoying the many dog-friendly events which are held around the NWA region.
Growing up on 200 acre farm in Southwest, Mo, Taylor Blackwell has been an animal lover since she was little. After graduating from Missouri State University, she married her husband Derek. Together they have 1 son, Conner, five fur children, (four dogs & one cat). Their dogs are: Jax, a 4 year old, full blooded Doberman; Jake, a 3 year old, rescued Great Dane/Lam mix; Bianca, a 2 ½ year old, rescued Pit/Lab mix; and Jewels, a 1 year old, rescued Heeler/Shepherd mix. Their cat is Jasmine, a 7 year old, Siamese/Tabby mix. Both Taylor and Derek work for J. B. Hunt Transport, Inc. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, and fostering puppies. Along with many years of experience in non-profit and small business entrepreneurship, Taylor has a huge passion for animals and excited to be a part of Spay Arkansas!
Alyssa Justet is currently the Operations Manager at Phenom-A-Dog and became a board member of Spay Arkansas in October of 2016. She and her husband, Brandon, have been living in Northwest Arkansas since 2013. They share their home with three large brindle mutts and a cat that thinks he is a large mutt. When she is not working or helping with rescue dogs she enjoys riding in their motorcycle’s sidecar, cooking, and simply relaxing at home.
